A senior expert at business value creation by guiding companies towards industry leading topline growth both organically and inorganically, He has worked with leading consulting organizations like Deloitte, Accenture driving some of the most complex transformation agenda for global clients. In his current engagement which spans over a decade with a global technology & services player, he has played multiple roles – first as a business development leader engaging with CIOs and driving competitive total technology sales pursuits for deal size anywhere between $ 10 Million to $ 100 Million and next establishing a robust mergers & acquisition practice having full stack home grown capabilities around commercial & operational due-diligence, value creation, integration and divestitures. His accomplishments include total sales wins to the tune of $ 40 Million, authoring a comprehensive due-diligence & value creation playbook which today provides the guiding principle for all acquisitions, driving synergy joint sales & topline growth of ~ $ 25 Million and savings by integrating acquisitions for ~ $ 15 Million.

A senior technology executive, having significant cross-domain experience in architecting technology for strategic functions and helping them meet market differentiating outcomes. His experience spans across the breadth of technology areas, enterprise solutions, application design, cloud computing, data architecture, analytics and security. Over the span of his twenty years career he has led several technology projects that are critical not just from a business standpoint but also from the dimension of human life. Amongst all, the most impactful one, is spearheading the supply chain technology transformation for a New York based, hospital and medical provider having operations across United States, during the worldwide COID pandemic, ensuring that health workers have all access to all supplies for addressing patients needs. Besides that he was instrumental in driving several consulting engagements for global clients, managing teams and associated budgets to the tune of $ 15 Million annually.

Besides that he is also a thought leader in matters related to clinical trials and has published several papers in notable medicine journals, which has been influenced research & development in critical areas of human health & medicine.

Challenges in the mid and lower mid market sector

  1. Comprises a long tail of companies having revenue anywhere between $ 10 Million to $ 100 Million.

  2. Many of the companies usually are cash strapped and need that extra working capital outlay in the form of equity infusion, lines of credit and debt as well.

  3. The no # 1 priority for companies in this sector is to manage working capital well while maintaining their growth which is super critical.

  4. However, this growth capital more often than not leads to other consequences in terms of unsustainable business performance by overinvesting in salesforce, or marketing and lead generation activities that erode margin leading to a vicious cycle of continuous capita infusion.

  5. There is a great opportunity by combining business that are similar or adjacent in nature and capturing value from that transaction. More often than not majority of businesses do not have clarity on the process or do not get the right multiple of valuation to exit the business.

  6.  Majority of the business consolidations don’t happen at the right time, right place due to inadequate understanding of being able to combine businesses and being able to realize value of the combined business.

  7. Several companies do not have adequate capital availability to invest in the team that will drive the operational transformation.

Current Solutions

  1. Some of the companies based on attractiveness, exit to a private equity player, who in-turn will take aggressive stand on optimizing the organization operations till they reach industry benchmark standards.

  2. Acquisition by another strategic player which provides an opportunity to cut down overlapping operations, enhance salesforce productivity by cross selling adjacent offerings to the same customer.

Shortcomings in the current solutions

  1. Usually, this process of finding a buyer and running a sale process is to find the best buyer. Valuations are a significant factor and the brokers in this process are investment bankers who prepare marketing collaterals to market the selling company, solicit offers from multiple buyers and manage take a commission of the purchase price.

  2. Both players – the banker as well as the seller are strongly inclined towards higher valuation and more often than not founders chase capital infused growth to get the high multiple of valuation but right after the exit the buyer begins aggressive re-structuring to improve business metrics to a healthy and sustainable state.

  3. We strongly believe that the buy-sell process is more akin to a window dressing by the intermediate brokers a.k.a bankers and there are several good companies having good fundamentals but do not have access to resources to negotiate a deal that would be best in class.
